Roma continue pressing for Icardi: renewed contact today

John Solano

The Italian transfer market seems to revolve around Mauro Icardi. Juventus and Napoli are interested in the Argentinian, but it’s Roma who are pressing for the player. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Giallorossi have made contact for the striker in recent hours as sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is insistent on gifting Paulo Fonseca an important reinforcement in attack. Between Roma and Napoli, the capital club are ahead of the Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the moment despite not playing in the Champions League. However, a final “OK” from the former Sampdoria striker on a move to Trigoria has yet to arrive. Should Icardi give the green light to joining Roma, the clubs then work to find an agreement on the total valuations between the player and Edin Dzeko, who would be included in the operation and would join the Nerazzurri. If this hypothesis become more concrete, Inter are requesting an additional €55-60 million from Roma – a figure deemed to high by the capital club’s hierarchy. Nonetheless, the sides are continuing to work on the operation.
