RomaPress – Whispers continue to emerge from Uruguayan journalists and intermediaries that Roma have offered out-of-contract PSG attacker Edinson Cavani a contract.
Various Uruguayan journalists have reported that an investor group, which is interested in and nearing an acquisition of Roma, has offered the striker a deal and will bring the ex-Napoli man to the Italian capital once their takeover is complete.
However, sources from both Roma and The Friedkin Group, the group that is currently engaged in negotiations with James Pallotta to takeover the club, have flatly denied this.
First and foremost, Friedkin does not have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the club and can not offer any contract contingent upon their takeover.
The Houston-based consortium remain engaged in negotiations with Pallotta and have exclusivity in regards to takeover talks. If Pallotta or Friedkin wishes to abandon the deal, this would have to be communicated to CONSOB, the regulatory body of the Italian stock exchange.
