After the fiasco with Inter involving Matteo Politano — Il Tempo reports that Roma are evaluating other profiles and that the track leading the 26 year-old to return to his boyhood club is fading.
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta did not appreciate the words of Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi before the capital side’s match against Genoa — as he clarified why the swap deal involving Politano and Leonardo Spinazzola fell thru despite both players undergoing medicals.
Petrachi stated that there was an agreement in place and that the deal was done — the only reason it didn’t become official was because Marotta scrapped the deal as he and sporting director Piero Ausilio were not on the same page.
Inter remain open to selling Politano, but only in a permanent deal: a loan with an obligation to buy. Roma have taken note of Inter’s position and are, reportedly, now eyeing other profiles.
The names the Giallorossi are considering are Juve’s Bernardeschi and Liverpool’s Shaqiri. Petrachi has liked the Juventus attacker since last summer and it is probable that a new inquiry will be made when Roma face the Bianconeri in Turin this week.
The Giallorossi hope they can take advantage of two things in regards to the ex-Fiorentina man: his recent disappointment of being left on the bench against Parma and his huge desire to play in this summer’s edition of the Euros.
