Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara couldn’t hide his delight at full-time just moments after scoring the winning goal against Fiorentina. The Guinean scored in the final moments of the match to sink Cesare Prandelli’s side 2-1 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi this evening.
It was a huge win for Roma after they lost on Sunday to Milan and a confidence boost for Diawara.
The 23 year-old has bee limited this season due to injures and a bout with COVID. However, he has played a huge role for the Giallorossi in recent weeks and appears to be back to his old self.
“That goal was one we had to suffer and sacrifice for, but it was a team goal,” said Diawara to Roma TV.
“I’m very happy, the most important thing today was winning, we deserved it. I’m finally back playing and I’m extremely pleased. We prepared well for this game, we didn’t allow Fiorentina very much. However, we have to stay focused in order to achieve our goals.”
“It’s always good to have continuity, but this season I suffered injuries then had to deal with COVID.”
