Roma won their second match in a row today as they defeated Genoa 1-0 this afternoon in the Italian capital.
Despite missing several first choice players, including Edin Dzeko and Ibañez, defender Gianluca Mancini’s first-half headed goal was enough to secure a victory for the Giallorossi. Paulo Fonseca’s men were in desperate need of a victory following last weekend’s loss to Milan, which harmed their top four aspirations.
“We didn’t have a good performance, but the most important thing was winning,” he said to DAZN.
“These matches are always tough and we should’ve done better to get another goal. Nonetheless, bringing home the three points is all that matters, though, we didn’t have a good display.”
“We were missing that one last step. In order to qualify for the Champions League, we need to do more.”
