RomaPress – Multiple officials from both Roma and The Friedkin Group have denied a report that they will sack manager Paulo Fonseca today.

Following yesterday’s embarrassing display against Manchester United, whispers emerged earlier this morning that President Dan Friedkin was so furious with the result that he could relieve the Portuguese technician of his duties.

The club, however, quickly rejected this report. In addition, an individual from The Friedkin Group, Roma’s parent company, labeled the possibility of firing Fonseca right now “pointless.”

Fonseca’s contract with the Giallorossi expires at the end of the season and, to date, the Giallorossi haven’t presented him or his agent, Marco Abreu, a renewal offer. However, the club maintains that their intention is to complete the season with the former Shakhtar man before making any decision.

Despite their assertion, Roma General Director, Tiago Pinto, has already held multiple discussions with the representatives of Maurizio Sarri.
