Roma are working on the possible signing of Spanish attacker Rodrigo Riquelme.

The Giallorossi have identified the 24-year-old Atletico Madrid winger as the ideal solution for Daniele De Rossi’s attacking woes.

Over recent days, Roma held talks with both Atletico and Riquelme’s entourage.

In fact, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the capital club, namely technical director Florent Ghisolfi, are in direct contact with the player’s agent.

Despite this, the newspaper states that it will certainly not be easy to convince Atletico Madrid to let go of a player who is part of their rejuvenation project.

A month ago the Spaniard’s entourage had spoken about it with Atalanta, now the opportunity has presented itself again, but the complicated part has yet to begin.

Atletico are asking for €30 million for Riquelme, whereas Roma are only willing to offer €20 million.

Riquelme’s signing would not pose a problem for the capital club’s wage bill. He currently earns €800,000, in the capital his salary would rise to a maximum of €1.5 million, at least initially.

The newspaper adds that an agreement could be found with Atletico for €25-28 million plus bonuses.
