Former Roma player and current director of the Giallorossi women’s side, Sebino Nela, will not be returning to the club.

The former fullback, who won a Scudetto with Roma in 1983, has held various directorial posts throughout the club over the past few years. Nela, though, will no longer have a role in the Italian capital as his daughter, Ludovica, confirmed the news on her Facebook page.

“You sweated, rejoiced and cried for your shirt, your team, your Roma, your adopted city. You continued to serve and honor it in the name of those values and the history that this ownership group wanted to erase,” she said.

“Yesterday someone wanted you not to be part of this Roma anymore. But the truth, my beloved dad, is that you are Roma’s history. Nobody can erase this from the memory of those who saw you wearing that shirt”.

Il Messaggero has reported that Roma opted not to renew Nela’s contract due to budgetary restrictions. It’s a decision that he has not taken well and it’s possible that he‘ll soon release a statement.
