Ünder: “Roma? A dream come true.”

Roma attacker Cengiz Ünder appeared in the latest edition of AS Roma Match Program. These are his words:

You started, again, against Crotone: how are you with your new manager and teammates?
I started for the third time. I’m really happy. I still have problems with the language, but the Mister is helping me a lot. I work hard in training to be able to put myself in the best position with the team. Scoring the first goal is always tough, against Crotone I had a good chance to score, but I got it wrong. I hope to score as soon as possible, it may be the turning point for me and it might be the first of many.

What emotion do you feel when you play at the Olimpico?
The Roma supporters are huge football fans and I’m really excited by that. I would like to play many years for these fans and with this shirt. I think I will better express myself with more space, I only need more minutes.

Your first four months in Rome?
During these first four months, the first two were most difficult. I’m not used to being alone and living alone. Here, though, I moved on my own. It was tough but I’m getting used to it. I started to get to know my teammates and day by day it’s getting better.

What differences did you find in Italian football versus Turkish?
Here in Italy, discipline is very important. Both leagues are very physical, but the Italian league is tougher. Initially, it was not easy for me, especially for the way I play, against Benevento I ran into trouble, especially in the second half. But in the end, I do not think there are many differences, of course in Italy there is more quality.

From the outside, your seem like a very united group.
It is true, since day one the whole team has been very helpful. We spend a lot of time together and I try to talk with them more and more.

What are your personal goals?
Being at Roma is a dream come true. I want to wear this shirt for many years because Roma is a great club.

How did you choose Roma?
When my agent told me, I chose Roma without thinking twice: it is a club with great ambition.
