Roma have identified their favored January reinforcement in Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu.
The ex-Leicester City man is in fact deemed to be the ideal reinforcement for Jose Mourinho’s squad as Roma are in need of an additional centre-back among their ranks given Chris Smalling’s prolonged absence.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have already held a first round of talks with Soyuncu’s agent and Atletico Madrid.
The player is open to leaving Spain on loan for the remainder of the season.
However, getting to Soyuncu might be more complicated than Roma initially expected: Fulham are also interested and have reportedly offered a hefty proposal to Atletico in order to sign him on a permanent deal.
In the meantime, Roma must also focus on securing at least one outgoing transfer to free up a roster spot for Soyuncu or any other reinforcement.
