Roma have advanced to the Europa League semi-final after knocking Ajax out of the competition this evening in the Italian capital.
A late goal from Edin Dzeko sealed the result for the Giallorossi, who advance 3-2 on aggregate past Erik ten Hag’s mean.
The victory sets up a massive showdown between the Italians and English giants Manchester United, who breezed past Granada 4-0 over two legs.
Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini admitted that it’s an important for the capital club, however, he emphaised that his side must keep working.
“We showed tonight that we’re growing. We’re happy but we can’t get too euphoric, this is only the semi-final,” he said to Sky Sport.
“We want to play three more games in this competition, we’ll have to improve in order to do so. Now we face Manchester United, we realise that if you want to do something great, you have to beat those who are great.”
Finally, “We’ll enjoy the result just for tonight. We overcame many difficult moments throughout this game, but we must keep working.”
