Jose Mourinho speaks to Tiago Pinto

Roma executive Tiago Pinto discussed what’s in been like working with Jose Mourinho following the latter’s appointment as the team’s new manager in May 2021.

The 38 year-old lauded the Special One’s thirst for winning and his ambitious nature even though he’s won everything there is to win during his two decades as a manager in Europe.

“Working with Jose is everything you’d imagine it’d be,” he told Portuguese outlet sicnoticias.pt.

“Despite being 60 years-old and having won 26 titles, he’s a very demanding person and works with the same level of ambition and motivation as he did when he was 30.”

“Our work at this club can not be judged solely based upon the outcome of this Europa League final game. We still have a lot of work to do for this club.”

Continuing, “We know there’s always surprises in football and nothing is guaranteed, but on my part the intention is for he and I to continue working together here.”

“I brought many of the ideas I learned at Benfica here to Roma. Since the Friedkin’s purchased the club, there’s been a lot of improvements to our training center Trigoria.”

“It’s also important that there’s a total focus on developing young talent for any club I go to. This has to be the basis of the project.”

“We’ve been able to do a lot, with the help of Mourinho, in developing the Primavera–we’ve had 14 players debut for the first team. Some of them, like (Nicola) Zalewski and (Edoardo) Bove, have become regulars.”
