Roma executive Tiago Pinto wants a response tonight versus Juventus

AS Roma general manager Tiago Pinto

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto appeared on DAZN before the capital side’s showdown against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Portuguese executive stressed the importance of this evening’s affair and wants the team to give a response after their poor outing midweek against Milan.

“Certainly both teams have the ability to do much more than what they’ve shown so far,” he said.

“Putting aside the other teams, we have the challenge of collecting more points than we did in the first half of the season. Tonight is an important match against a great team that has a very good manager.”

“But we have the responsibility to give a response and that’s what everyone is expecting. We’ve got a great coach and a team with a lot of quality. We had some issues in the group but now everyone wants to do better.”

Pinto was also asked about the club’s transfer market plans for the remainder of January. Yesterday, club announced their first acquisition of the transfer window in Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

“Our transfer market strategy is well-aligned with clearly defined objectives. We’ve already acquired Maitland-Niles, who has the ability to play in midfield or as a fullback.”

Adding, “He’s come here to give us a hand on the right flank: this is the project we presented to him but we know he also possesses the qualities to play as a midfielder.”
