Roma are still hopeful to secure Chris Smalling’s exit from the club.
In the final hours of the summer transfer window, Roma are trying to speed up some outgoing operations to lighten their wages and improve their balance sheet.
Among the main priorities is the sale of Chris Smalling, a central defender who, after a difficult start to the season, has not yet played a single minute for De Rossi’s team.
Smalling’s contract with Roma includes a significant salary of 3.8 million euros plus bonuses, an aspect that makes his sale complex.
However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi are exploring various options remaining on the market to find a team that can welcome the English defender, with the possibility of a transfer to Saudi Arabia still on the table, given that the transfer window there will close on 6 October.
