Mehdi Benatia and Roma. Today’s edition of Leggo has reported that a union could be close.

In fact, contact between the defender and Roma started a month ago. The Moroccan would be taking a significant wage decrease to re-join the Giallorossi.

The purchase of Benatia was set to be concluded a few days after the sale of Rüdiger to Chelsea for €25 million, however, the injury to the German abruptly ended negotiations.

The operation for Benatia has remained on hold, but the player has been reassured by former teammate and current Roma director Federico Balzaretti. But in the meantime, Benatia has also listened to offers from Inter and Juve as he believed a transfer to Roma wouldn’t come to fruition. Fast forward to today: Leandro Castan is leaving for Samp and calls to Benatia were sent yesterday and today to inform him of the willingness of Rom.

Bayern Munich, who bought Benatia from Roma in 2014 for €28 million, have not been impressed with the performances of Benatia and are willing to sell him on loan with an option to buy for €18 million.

The operation to no longer a fairytale: it is concrete. Roma want to bring Medhi Benatia back to Roma. In fact, Luciano Spalletti has even spoken to the player and has expressed his desire of bring Benatia back to the capital.
