Roma eye Federico Dimarco as Spinazzola’s replacement

Following Spinazzola’s Achilles tear, Roma will be forced to look for temporary alternatives at the wingback position. Considering that the only present option on the left flank is 19-year-old Riccardo Calafiori, the club is already on the look-out for reinforcements.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, the first candidate for the job may happen to be Federico Dimarco. The 24-year-old Inter fullback spent the last two seasons at Hellas Verona and was one of Juric’s protagonists. In his most recent campaign, Dimarco scored 5 goals and finished with 3 assists in 34 Serie A appearances.

The player does not seem to fit into Inter’s plans and may be available for a move with a price-tag of around €10 million. It remains to be seen whether Roma would be willing to insert a counterpart into the deal or accept a loan with obligation to buy depending on the number of appearances.

The other candidate is Dutch international Mitchell Dijks of Bologna. Right now, the 28-year-old is Roma’s secondary option. Despite potentially bringing in a replacement for the injured Spinazzola, earlier today Mourinho personally contacted the player emphasizing the club’s willingness to include him at the center of the project once he’s fully recovered.
