One of the latest names for the Giallorossi’s midfield in January is that of Héctor Herrera.
The Mexican international has been subject to rumors given his scarce playing time under Atletico manager Diego Simeone: only 233 minutes so far in this campaign.
Herrera had been linked to Roma in the past, when he was playing for Porto.
Now, Roma are rumored to be in the run for the 31-year-old midfielder. According to Spanish outlet todofichajes, the Italian capital club are currently the favorites to land Herrera.
The ex-Porto man is tempted to exit Atletico already in January given the expiry of his contract in June 2022.
The player is reportedly looking for a €3.5 million contract, a figure that may be deemed too high by Roma’s General Manager Tiago Pinto.
Herrera is among the many names rumored to be alternatives for Roma’s number one target for the midfield: Denis Zakaria.
