Genoa attacker Eldor Shomurodov is getting ready to wear the Roma kit for the first time in the coming days.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, after reaching an agreement with Genoa on Wednesday evening, Roma are now finalizing the last contractual details with the player and his entourage.
The official exchange of documents between the two clubs is to take place between today and tomorrow with the deal being completed tomorrow at the latest. The player will likely arrive in the capital on Monday where he will officially sign for the Giallorossi.
The 26-year-old Uzbek is then expected to join the team in Portugal for the remainder of preseason. He will arrive on a loan with an obligation to buy after meeting certain conditions (number of appearances or CL qualification).
The player was strongly recommended by Mourinho who likes his versatility up front. The two had a chance to meet in 2019 before Shomurodov started his adventure in Serie A with Genoa.
Moreover, with Dzeko likely staying for a final year in the capital, the manager wants to implement heavy rotations for the striker position across all competitions. This means the starting role is not guaranteed for anybody.
