Roma GM Tiago Pinto remains cryptic on Bonucci rumors

Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto weighed the concluding calendar year ahead of tonight’s kick-off with Napoli at Stadio Olimpico.

In his pre-match interview with DAZN, the Portuguese executive said, “The calendar year brings together two different seasons and this is not the time to take stock. Surely winning the last home game of 2023 would also be important for our track record. The Champions League race will continue until the end of the season.”

“Many teams are doing well and even Bologna, even if they don’t have the same kind of high-level squad as the others, are doing very well and are deserving of their position in the table. But it is still very early to know who will qualify.”

On the recent rumors linking Leonardo Bonucci with a January move to Roma, Pinto added, “I have always always been clear. There is a department where we are numerically insufficient due to the problems we have had, but I have also always said that we have some important constraints that do not allow us to go to the market and choose who we absolutely want.”

“The market is not open yet, we have time. We have to think. I won’t comment on the names that have come out, many names have come out and maybe in the end the media will get lucky and get one of them right.”
