Roma are reportedly in talks for the surprise signing of La Liga top goal-scorer Artem Dovbyk.

The Ukrainian striker is now a chief target for Roma who want to add a strong number 9 to Daniele De Rossi’s squad.

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari of Sportitalia, Roma are making progress with Dovbyk’s camp.

The club met with the player’s agents and talks are on-going with the player giving his full availability to a move to the Eternal City.

Longari claims Atletico Madrid were the favorites to sign him but encountered problems in their negotiations with Girona and now there is tensions involved between the two clubs.

Roma want to utilize this as an opportunity to make a convincing bid for Dovbyk.

Longari adds that Roma are growing in confidence for the deal to happen.
