On Friday afternoon Roma submitted an appeal to UEFA seeking to lower Nicolo Zaniolo’s three-match ban to two.
The player received the ban in response to the red card he received during the latter stages of Roma’s loss to Real Betis on October 6th at the Stadio Olimpico.
Now, as reported by Il Tempo, Roma hope UEFA can overturn the decision and reduce Zaniolo’s ban.
The hope of the club and Mourinho is to have Zaniolo available for next week’s decisive group stage match in Rome versus Bulgarian side Ludogorets as the two teams are level on seven points—putting Roma in a must-win situation if they want to advance to the Europa League knockout stage.
