Roma are reportedly negotiating their first deal of the summer in the form of Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.

The Uruguay international is set to become a free agent upon concluding his fourth season with Cagliari as the team’s captain.

According to the latest report by calciomercato.com, Nandez has been offered to Roma who consider him the ideal replacement of Renato Sanches who will return to PSG after an unsuccessful loan spell.

Roma are currently said to be locked in talks with Nandez’s entourage – talks are advanced and the Giallorossi are offering the player a three-year deal.

Nandez would fit the bill of a much-needed box-to-box midfielder in Daniele De Rossi’s squad.

Nandez and De Rossi briefly played together during De Rossi’s spell at Boca Juniors near the end of his career.

The news portal claims that negotiations should reach a conclusion within the coming days with Nandez hoping to know what the future might hold in store for him prior to the start of Copa America with Uruguay.
