Roma have joined the race for highly contested transfer target Jonathan David of Lille.

The Canadian attacker is reportedly among the names Roma want to try and add to their roster this coming summer.

With Romelu Lukaku on his way out, the Giallorossi have put David’s name on top of the list of potential replacements.

According to calciomercato.com, the competition for David is fierce: Milan and Aston Villa are the clubs to have already inquired about the 24-year-old forward and who seem to be leading the current race.

However, the news portal reports that Roma’s new technical director, Florent Ghisolfi, is in direct contact with the player’s entourage and has already held inquiries for David regarding his availability to a move to Italy.

With only one year left on his contract, David’s estimated pricetag ranges between €35-40 million.

The player himself, however, is asking for a considerable salary: David wants a long-term deal with net wages of up to €6 million per season.
