Roma in for Kluivert

Dutch football journalist Freek Jansen of Voetbal International has reported that Ajax winger Justin Kluivert is likely to move to Italy this summer with Roma in pole position to land the player.

Despite the rumours, the young Dutchman will, reportedly, not move to England this summer as Juventus, Milan and Roma are all interested in the player with the Giallorossi are in the lead for his services. Kluivert, who has a contract expiring in June 2019, and his agent Mino Raiola were in talks with Ajax negotiating a new contract since October, however, an agreement couldn’t be reached. One of the main reasons the agreement couldn’t be reached, besides Kluivert seeking a substantial wage increase, was due to Raiola’s insistence on the player receiving 30% of any future transfer fee. Ajax did not want to give in to the Italian agent’s demands as they feared it would give future representatives “free reign” when it comes to negotiations.
