Roma have started to pursue negotiations over a new contract for Luigi Cherubini.

The capital club are looking to extend the player’s stay after his contract expired on June 30th.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Roma want to keep Cherubini but there is no agreement in place between the two sides.

Despite having been close to Juventus, Cherubini then remained in Rome after undergoing knee surgery earlier in the year.

Negotiations are underway for a renewal with the Giallorossi and at the moment no agreement has been reached.

Di Marzio adds that Milan are interested in Cherubini.

The Rossoneri are vigilant about the player’s contractual situation and in the event of the player breaking up with the Giallorossi, they would be ready to strike. Furthermore, the head of the Rossoneri youth sector, Vincenzo Vergine, knows him well and has in fact already had him at Roma.
