Roma are closing in on a new transfer target from Ligue 1.

The Giallorossi are in fact looking at Arthur Theate of Stade Rennais as their next defensive reinforcement.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Roma are in negotiations with Rennes for Theate’s signing.

Having just secured Artem Dovbyk from Girona, Roma want to now focus on adding an extra centreback to their roster.

The capital club are said to have launched talks with Rennes quite recently but negotiations are progressing rapidly.

The deal, reports Tovalieri, could be concluded for around 18 million euros plus bonuses.

The agreement with the player would also be very close on the basis of a five-year contract.

Roma therefore do not seem to have any intention of stopping, and want to continue investing heavily in the market.
