Roma are reportedly eyeing veteran defender Matts Hummels as a potential summer reinforcement.

Following an impressive season which recently culminated in a lost Champions League final versus Real Madrid, Matts Hummels has come to the end of his contract with Borussia Dortmund.

The player’s heroics helped lead Terzic’s team to an unexpected European campaign but now the veteran centreback is said to be at a crossroads.

Hummels is in fact undecided on what to do next in his career.

As a free agent, the player is rumored to be wanting to explore other destinations in Europe as he is not interested in playing in Saudi or the MLS.

According to the latest edition of Corriere della Sera, several teams have lined up for the German international.

Among them is Roma – the Giallorossi have reportedly entered the race for Hummels, a player the club deeply admire and who could prove useful for the upcoming season.

Hummels’ fitness levels are excellent having played 40 games across all competitions this season at the age of 35.

The player impresses with his international experience – 78 appearances for Germany with 5 goals.

With Chris Smalling on his way out of the club, Roma could ponder the free agent signing of Hummels this summer.
