Pontus Almqvist is the latest name to be linked with Roma ahead of the start of the summer transfer window.

The Swedish footballer – mostly deployed as a winger – has emerged onto Roma’s radar.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, after his loan experience at Lecce, Pontus Almqvist returned to Rostov.

The Swede’s contract with the Russian side expires in 2025, and the attacking winger will leave on loan for free.

The 25-year-old would like to return to Italy, and has received inquiries from Fiorentina and Roma.

Fiorentina and Roma have launched inquiries for him in recent weeks but without yet making any offer.

However, he feeling is that the Russians – also due to the situation linked to the war – could let him leave on free loan.

Furthermore, the contract expiring in 2025 allows any interested team to take the player on loan and possibly secure him on a free next season.
