With the future of Chris Smalling still a question mark, Roma continue to search for a Plan B.
Transfer website calciomercato.it has reported that the Giallorossi have inquired for Sassuolo’s defender Gian Marco Ferrari.
The 28-year-old defender is also being eyed by Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton and could be on the move this summer. Sassuolo has slapped a €10 million price tag on the player — but it’s possible he could be acquired via a paid loan with an obligation to buy.
It’s still very early in the process: Roma has not made a formal offer and they have yet to open talks with the player’s representatives.
The capital club is merely probing the feasibility of a potential transfer while they await to see the final outcome of Chris Smalling’s future.
