Roma are said to continue in their pursuit of Lille star attacker Jonathan David.

The Canadian international remains the Giallorossi’s top target to replace Romelu Lukaku ahead of next season.

With Big Rom set to make his return to Chelsea following the conclusion of his loan, Roma’s attention has shifted to David who is considered the ideal fit for Daniele De Rossi’s attack.

According to Tuttosport, there are currently no ongoing negotiations between Roma, David and Lille, but the player is still Florent Ghisolfi’s preferred name on the market to further strengthen Roma’s offensive department.

The newspaper reports that Lille will hardly let go of David for anything less than €40 million, a fee which Roma are currently in no position to match unless they were to complete an important sale in the coming weeks.

However, the capital club remain firm in their intention to try and lure David to Italy.
