Spanish outlet MundoDeportivo has reported that Roma is one of several clubs interested in Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
The 20 year-old, who joined Schalke in January on loan with an option to buy, will look for a new adventure this summer because the German side does, reportedly, not see itself with the economic capacity to activate the buy clause — worth €25 million.
Given this financially complicated situation of Schalke, there are several clubs that have moved to try and win the signature of the player once the transfer market reopens.
Barça is not yet ready to reduce their asking price – which remains at €25 million – as they believe the player’s age and quality are both at the perfect level. The youngster cost the Spanish side only €1 million and since financial resources will be needed this summer — Todibo could be sacrificed considering he would represent a large profit.
Roma have been interested in Todibo since last summer and they could take advantage of their good relations with Barcelona, as evidenced by the deal for Carles Pérez in January.
However, several clubs have also expressed their interest in Todibo including Everton, Bayer Leverkusen, Milan, Watford, Southampton and Monaco.
