Following Basel’s 5-1 aggregate defeat to Greek side PAOK in the Champions League preliminary round, Roma will now go into Pot 2 for the draw on 30 August. Had Basel umtimately advanced, Roma would have had to rely on Benfica crashing out in order to move up from Pot 3 to Pot 2, but after the elimination of the Swiss side, Roma are officially in Pot 2.
