Roma are reportedly narrowing the list of names for their next sporting director following the departure of GM Tiago Pinto.
Over the last days, Roma President Dan Friedkin is said to have been personally involved with a narrow circle of candidates for the job with the aim of announcing Pinto’s successor within this month.
According to Il Tempo, Roma have been focusing on foreign candidates with several big names linked to the Giallorossi including ex-Bayern Munich’s Marco Neppe as well as ex-Chelsea man Christopher Vivell and former Monaco director Thomas Mitchell.
The newspaper adds that the latest candidate for the job may be another German executive in Jorg Schmadtke who recently concluded his brief stint as Liverpool’s sporting director.
Schmadtke has extensive experience in the Bundesliga, working for several years for the likes of Hannover, Koln and Wolfsburg.
