Roma laying foundations to extend Mourinho’s stay

Andy Mattioli

Roma are working to convince Jose Mourinho to extend his stay in the Italian capital.

The Giallorossi have been working on several fronts at once in order to guarantee more long-term plans with Jose Mourinho who joined the club in the summer of 2021.

Nearing his 100th match in charge of Roma, Jose Mourinho’s future remains uncertain.

However, Francesco Balzani of calciomercato.com reports that Dan and Ryan Friedkin have been at work to convince Mourinho of the club’s positive trajectory and ambitions.

Recently, the club appointed Lina Souloukou as CEO in order to further deepen Roma’s international management – an important step as Roma continue to collaborate with UEFA in light of FFP restrictions.

Moreover, the Giallorossi – led by General Manager Tiago Pinto – are reportedly in advanced talks with Houssem Aouar and Evan Ndicka. Both soon-to-be free agents are very appreciated by Mourinho.

Finally, Roma are also set to renew Nemanja Matic and Chris Smalling – two leading figures in Jose Mourinho’s dressing room.
