Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport has reported that Roma and sporting director, Monchi, have started to lay the groundwork for a summer move for Sassuolo attacker Domenico Berardi.
Reportedly, Berardi is eager to move on from Sassuolo in order to regain an opportunity at being called up to the Italian national team. Several clubs throughout Europe were interested in the right winger last summer, however, the market for the player has seemingly disappeared. Berardi has had a disastrous campaign, scoring only one goal via a penalty. Sassuolo slapped a €40 million price tag on Berardi last summer, a price which Roma balked at, though, the player’s value has significantly fallen since then. There are no longer the same number of suitors for Berardi as there were in the summer, but Roma are still there. Di Francesco still likes the player and is ready to help relaunch his career and Berardi knows that with Di Francesco he could have a chance to regain his form.
Berardi will certainly not be sold in January, however, Monchi and Roma have started to lay the groundwork for a summer move as Di Francesco still thinks the player is the right profile.
