Legendary Roma defender and former club captain Aldair backed Giallorossi Jose Mourinho in a recent interview.
“Roma have several absences, including injuries and suspensions,” Aldair told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “If he needs me, I’m there. I’ll suit up and play.”
“In losing Smalling Roma have lost the greatest defensive asset,” continued the Brazilian centreback. “Smalling is someone who commands the entire backline but who also makes those who play next to him feel at ease.”
“Right now I see a team that gives everything on the pitch, the boys never hold back. And when you always give your best with so many matches so close together, it’s normal that your muscles could be at risk and injuries occur.”
“Roma is a good team, they’re tough, they can get to the Champions League, but the next head-to-head matches will be very important. Mourinho is doing well, last year he won and now he can repeat.”
“It’s right to go ahead with him, but we’ll have to see if the club will be able to give him the players he’s asking for.”
