Roma legend and former captain Giuseppe Giannini recently complimented himself with Mourinho’s work at Roma, especially with the team’s development since the start of the season.
“I like this Roma a lot,” he told Il Messaggero. “They’ve become a real team that can win a trophy, and deservedly so.”
“Mourinho has contributed greatly. He’s blunt, very direct and that’s the kind of man this city likes.”
“He’s embraced the city, the fans, he’s taken them along for the ride.”
“He did the same with the team. Initially he mistreated it to obtain a reaction out of them. And in the end, he succeeded.”
“I think the derby was the turning point for Roma. In Rome that game has a special meaning. If you win it, the team gains confidence and thrives off the energy of the fans,” he concluded.
