RomaPress – Roma’s search for a new Sporting Director is running behind schedule as owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin were hoping to have a candidate appointed this month.
The American pair thought they found their man in Jonas Boldt, however, the 38 year-old informed them that he would be signing a new contract with Hamburg and remaining in Germany.
As the Friedkin’s continue their search, the name of Luis Campos continues to be recommended to them through several agents and executives in the footballing world.
Campos, who is currently under contract with Lille, is a name that Friedkin initially discussed back in August, however — the primary concerns that they had in the summer regarding the 56 year-old still remain today.
A source at The Friedkin Group has confirmed that the club is weary of bringing Campos to the club due to the complicated contractual structure it would require to hire him.
Campos does not have a typical contract with Lille and is “technically” not an official director of the club — he is only a consultant.
The Ligue 1 side have a deal in place with Campos’ company, Scoutly Limited, and not Campos himself — an arrangement that Friedkin are apprehensive to enter into.
Campos and his company still have multiple years remaining on their agreement with Lille, which is a situation that must be resolved first. However, even if a resolution is found, it still seems difficult that Campos would arrive in the Italian capital.
