Roma are looking at Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg as a potential summer reinforcement.

The Giallorossi are said to be prioritizing younger players to fit their new long term project under Daniele De Rossi and director Florent Ghisolfi.

In addition to the search for reinforcements in attack, especially given Lukaku’s departure, Roma’s focus in this transfer window is on defence.

According to Voetbal International, one of the names followed by the Giallorossi is that of Sepp van den Berg.

The 22-year-old centreback is owned by Liverpool but spent the last season on loan at Mainz.

The problem, after three consecutive loans, is the Reds’ plans for the summer.

In fact, to let their player leave, the English club would only accept a permanent transfer.

Van den Berg’s pricetag of €20-25 million is quite elevated for Roma’s means.

For the moment, Roma are monitoring the situation with interest as van den Berg is deemed a good fit due to his strength and physicality.

In his last season in Germany, Van den Berg made a total of 33 appearances in the Bundesliga with also 3 goals to his name.
