Milan boss Stefano Pioli was all smiles this evening at full-time following his team’s 2-1 win over Roma.

The Rossoneri earned a massive victory in the Italian capital and handed Giallorossi manager Paulo Fonseca yet another loss against a top six side.

Pioli praised his side’s first half performance and explained that they had to be willing to take risks if they wanted to get a result away from home.

“I reiterated to the team that we couldn’t have another negative performance,” he said to Sky Sport.

“Today we did well in both attack and defence, it was a deserved victory. They have great players and they caught us out a few times, but we’ve got to be willing to take risks.”

He continued, “We had an exceptional first 45 minutes. It’s a shame we couldn’t get another goal during that period, but today was a great match. We played with intensity and rhythm – it’s a huge win.”
