Roma are in talks to make the surprise signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

The Giallorossi have emerged as the favorites to land the Belgian striker only a few days before the transfer deadline.

After negotiations with Inter and Juventus collapsed earlier in the summer over a permanent deal, Lukaku is now rumored to be edging closer to a loan move to the Italian capital from Stamford Bridge.

Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport confirms that Roma have made official contact with Chelsea representatives.

The two clubs will meet in the coming hours with a new round of talks scheduled for this evening in order to reach an agreement for a dry loan involving the ex-Inter striker.

Lukaku has already spoken to former Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho and is keen on joining the Giallorossi.
