Roma may renew the loan of Vermaelen

Spanish outlet El Mundo Deportivo has reported that Roma must soon decide on the future of loanee Thomas Vermaelen.

The Belgian joined Roma on a free loan this summer, however, only recently did he return from a several month layoff. The Spanish newspaper reports that Roma must decide whether to exercise their €8 million option to buy the player. However, another scenario could be that Barcelona, again, loan the player to Roma for free next season given that the Spanish club do not want Vermaelen to return in any way.
