RomaPress – Roma striker Borja Mayoral has gotten off to a quick start with Getafe after completing a loan move to the club last month.
The Spaniard made his return to La Liga in January after plummeting in José Mourinho’s pecking order. Despite being the Giallorossi’s top scorer in 2020/2021, he made only three matches this season—unable to upend Tammy Abraham and Eldor Shomurodov.
He subsequently agreed to join Getafe on a six-month loan deal for the remainder of the season until June. Since transferring to the club, the 24 year-old has tallied 3 goals and 1 assist in five appearances.
Even though he departed just a few weeks ago, Mayoral is still being monitored closely by the Giallorossi. The capital club haven’t ruled out the possibility of activating the €20 million option to buy they possess on him.
But even if they opt to exercise this option, it doesn’t guarantee he’d remain in the Italian capital.
In fact, Roma could exploit Mayoral’s strong performances in Spain and sell him for a quick profit at a value above the €20 million.
