Roma are reportedly very close to agreeing with Jose Mourinho on a contract renewal that will see the Portuguese manager extend his stay at the club.
Over recent weeks, much has been said about Mourinho’s contractual situation with the Giallorossi.
With only a few months left on his current deal, Calciomercato.com reports that Roma have decided to secure the Special One’s services for at least another year.
In fact, the news portal claims that the definite agreement could come as soon as within the next few days, after Roma face Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals.
The club want to respect the manager’s wish to address the situation before February – this was the deadline Mourinho had given Roma to meet with his entourage.
The agreement should be an annual one with an option on the second year linked to the team’s qualification to the Champions League.
The figures in the new contract are slightly higher than current ones. The transfer plan will be made by the new sporting director who will also be announced by February after Tiago Pinto’s scheduled departure.
