After two months of negotiations, former Roma midfielder, Gerson, has officially completed his move to Marseille from Flamengo.
The 24 year-old was unveiled by the French giants this afternoon after completing his medical with the club. He becomes the Ligue 1 side’s second reinforcement of the summer, costing roughly €24 million, including potential bonuses, while penning a five-year contract.
As a result of the deal, Roma will earn nearly €1.3 million due to a sell-on clause that was included in his 2019 transfer from the club to Flamengo. The capital club were entitled to 10% of the profit earned by the Brazilians, who paid €11.8 million for the player.
The midfielder joins Marseille after spending the previous two seasons with Rio de Janeiro side, where he won the Copa Libertadores and two league titles.
