RomaPress – Lille executive Luis Campos is not under consideration by Roma to become the new Sporting Director of the club.
A source familiar with the situation has confirmed to RomaPress and other media outlets that the 56 year-old is not a candidate to fill the vacancy in the Italian capital.
For months, Campos has been touted as among the favorites to become the new Sporting Director of the Giallorossi as whispers emerged that he was looking to depart Lille due to disputes with club President Gérard Lopez.
New Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin, however, want someone who will have a physical presence in Rome and will be present on a daily basis — two preferences that rule-out Campos as a candidate.
Furthermore, despite an early, exploratory meeting between the parties — the source also revealed that the Giallorossi never seriously considered appointing Hamburg’s Jonas Boldt to the post while PSV’s John de Jong was never a candidate.
