Roma will not exercise the €15 million option they possess to permanently acquire striker Borja Mayoral.
According to Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, the Spaniard will remain at the club on loan for the upcoming season after Roma decided not to activate the buy option this summer.
It doesn’t mean, however, that Mayoral won’t remain with the club permanently.
The Giallorossi still have the ability to make the move permanent before the Spaniard’s two-year loan spell expires. Though, the amount rises from €15 million to €20 million.
The big question mark is whether or not Mayoral fits into José Mourinho’s plans. The striker enjoyed his most successful season as a professional in his first year with Roma, totaling 17 goals and 7 assists in forty-five appearances.
Nonetheless, Roma are still being heavily linked with a move for Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
