Roma are playing a game of patience for Lille attacker Jonathan David.

The Canadian striker is Roma’s dream candidate to replace Romelu Lukaku ahead of next season.

With Big Rom gone, Roma want to secure an important successor and the ideal profile is that of David who has one year left on his deal with Lille.

According to Il Messaggero, after holding exploratory talks with the player, Roma are now waiting patiently for Lille to lower their demands.

The French club’s requested fee for the player whose contract is up next year seem to have deterred all clubs interested in him so far.

As a result of this, Roma are hoping to be able to snatch David a few days prior to the transfer deadline, like they did with Lukaku last year.
