Roma planning summer friendly with Shakhtar Donetsk

Following their withdrawal from the prestigious Gamper Trophy competition with Barcelona, the capital club are revealed to be planning a new summer friendly.

This time around, reports Il Tempo, the Giallorossi want to face Shakhtar Donetsk in a friendly meant to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees.

Roma are currently working on the date of the friendly match which should take place near the start of August.

The club are also evaluating a suitable location: Roma are reportedly considering either the Stadio Olimpico or Frosinone’s Stadio Benito Stirpe.

The Italian newspaper reports that Roma’s decision to withdraw from the Gamper Trophy is due to the number of away games the Giallorossi will have in their opening league schedule – four out of the first six Serie A games in the 22/23 campaign will be away.
