With Chris Smalling ruled out until the end of November with a thigh muscle injury, Roma are left with a big question mark going forward.
According to La Repubblica, the capital club are waiting to understand the conditions of the English center-back whose past injuries have forced him to forfeit the majority of last season and the start to the new one.
Roma are left with only Kumbulla as an alternative to either Mancini or Ibanez. The Albanian international however is yet to impress Jose Mourinho so far this season.
Thus, the club are pondering a move to bring in an additional center-back already in the January window.
Given that the priority for January is a midfielder and, optionally, a full-back, Roma want to assess whether Smalling will be able to stabilize his physical condition going forward.
The Friedkins are aware of the difficulties that await the club in this campaign and are ready to invest adequately to reinforce the team ahead of the second half to the season.
